First responders are required to report suspected abuse & neglect of older adults and people with disabilities. ANYONE can report abuse. This refresher course reviews responsibilities, recognizing the signs and how to submit reports.

Megan Becker

Megan Becker is a clinical social worker who has specialized in the protective services field. For 15 years, Megan worked in adult protective services, collaborating with the vulnerable elderly and persons with disabilities to navigate abusive situations. In this capacity, Megan worked at Elder Care Services in Dekalb, IL, as a caseworker, supervisor, and administrator of the IL Department on Aging’s Adult Protective Services program from 2008-2023. Most recently, Megan transitioned her professional protective focus to vulnerable children. Megan now collaborates with the IL Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) and Northern IL University (NIU) to administer the DCFS Child Protection Training Academy at NIU. This program focuses on equipping new child protection investigative specialists with simulation experiences that will help guide their response to children and families.
